Studying for an AAT Accounting qualification
The AAT was set up over 25 years ago and is one of the world's leading membership organisations for accounting professionals with over 110,000 members. AAT NVQ in Accounting Level 2 (Foundation) 32 week course
This course is designed for those working, or hoping to work, in a range of roles in accounting and finance. It develops the practical financial accounting skills needed to produce manual accounts to trial balance and to use computerised accounts (Sage Line 50). Applicants should have basic numeracy skills. The fee includes course books and assessments.
Cost: There will be additional fees of approximately £160 payable directly to AAT to cover registration and examinations. Apprenticeship: This course is available by Apprenticeship

AAT Certificate in Accounting Level 2 (Diploma Pathway) 32 week course
This course is an equivalent qualification to the AAT NVQ Level 2 offered in previous years but without the NVQ workplace element requirement. It is the entry qualification for the AAT Advanced Certificate in Accounting Level 3 and is designed for those working, or hoping to work, in a range of roles in accounting and finance. It develops the practical financial accounting skills needed to produce manual accounts to trial balance and to use computerised accounts (Sage Line 50). The fee includes course books and assessments. There will be additional fees of approximately £180 payable direct to the AAT to cover registration and examinations.
Apprenticeship:This course is not available by Apprenticeship.

AAT NVQ in Accounting Level 3 (Intermediate) 35 week course
This course is for students who are, or wish to be, employed in accountancy work and who have demonstrated competence at AAT NVQ 2 Foundation. Students who have an A level in Accounting or two non-Accounting A levels or are aged 21 or over with 4 years' relevant Accounting experience are eligible for exemption from Foundation Level but will need to complete two additional units (Computerised Accounts and Health & Safety) which would normally be taken at Foundation Level. The fee includes course books and assessments.
Cost: There will be additional fees of approximately £170 payable directly to AAT to cover registration and examinations (less if you are already registered with AAT).
Apprenticeship: This course is available by Apprenticeship. An interview is required.

AAT Advanced Certificate in Accounting Level 3 (Diploma Pathway) 35 week course
This course is for students who have achieved the AAT Certificate in Accounting Level 2 (Diploma Pathway). There is no direct entry for this course.
Cost: Fees include course books and assessments. There will be additional fees of approximately £180 payable direct to AAT to cover registration and examinations.
Apprenticeship: This course is not available by Apprenticeship. An interview is required.

AAT NVQ in Accounting Level 4 (Technician) 35 week course
This final year course is for students who are employed in accountancy work and who have demonstrated competence at AAT NVQ 3 Intermediate. Financial and Management Accounting concepts are further developed at this level. The fee includes books and simulations.
Cost: There will be additional fees of approximately £265 payable directly to AAT to cover registration and examinations (less if you are already registered with AAT).
Interview:
An interview is required.

AAT Diploma in Accounting Level 4 (Diploma Pathway) 35 week course
This final year course is for students who have achieved the AAT Advanced Certificate Level 3. Financial and Management Accounting concepts are further developed at this level.
Cost: The fee includes course text books. There will be additional fees of approximately £262 payable directly to the AAT to cover registration and examinations.

An interview is required.

Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
ACCA is the largest and fastest-growing global professional accountancy body with 411,000 students and members in 170 countries. ACCA members work in industry and commerce (54%), public practice (28%) and the public sector (10%). The Association places as few artificial barriers as possible in the way of those seeking qualification. It aims to provide routes into the profession for everyone, regardless of location or qualification.
ACCA Professional Qualification
There are three levels to the ACCA Qualification: Knowledge (3 papers), Skills (6 papers) and Professional (5 papers). Candidates will also need to satisfy a Practical Experience Requirements and complete an on-line training and assessment module in professional ethics.
Entry Requirements
The College is offering tuition in the first three papers of the Skills level over one year (subsequent papers can be studied at the University of Brighton). Candidates must have passed, or be exempt from, papers at the Knowledge level. This course is especially suitable for holders of the AAT Technician or Diploma qualification, who are normally exempt from the Knowledge papers.
Cost: There will be an additional £64* pa subscription and £165* examination fees, paid direct to ACCA. (*2008/9 prices)
Interview: An interview is required for this course. The informal interview will seek to ensure that candidates are aware of the requirements of the course and that any issues relating to registration with ACCA, eligibility to sit the examinations or candidates' personal concerns are resolved in advance.
