Adults with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities

The College offers a varied programme of courses, designed for students with learning difficulties and disabilities. The courses enable students to study in a supportive environment and afford every opportunity to develop individual skills. Some courses are suited to all students regardless of their ability, others require students to be fully mobile and have a certain level of co-ordination, literacy or communication skills.

Pre Vocational Foundation Course (full-time)
A one year vocational course during which students learn vocation and essential skills
Vocational Foundation Course (full-time)
A two year course for students who see employment as a future goal. Work experience is arranged as part of this course.
Students on the full-time courses can choose from the following vocational options:
Sport and recreation
• Care
• Catering
• Hairdressing
• Business and Retail
• Horticulture
• Housekeeping

Essential Skills Award
This is taught as part of the full-time programme, or as a part-time stand alone option. It is ideal for students who wish to develop personal skills before considering vocational options.

Part-Time Programme
A varied programme of morning and afternoon courses are on offer. Subjects include:
• Computing
• Singing and rhythm
• Sculpture
• Cookery
• Art,design and textiles
• Flower arranging
• Communication skills
• Look back at history
• Travel training
• Health and Safety
• Hair care and beauty
