The Student Charter
SDC is committed to offering a high quality service in everything we do. The College Charter tells you what you can expect from us and what to do if your expectations are not met.
The Charter indicates the standards of performance we set ourselves and the Code of Conduct makes it clear to you what your responsibilities are as a student at College. All students receive a copy of the Charter during their induction programme at College.
Equality & Diversity
We are committed to the promotion of equal opportunities, to the pursuance of non-discriminatory policies and practices and to the elimination of unfair discrimination on the grounds of age, gender, marital status, sexual orientation, religion, class, nationality, race, colour, ethnic origin, political belief or special needs. Sussex Downs College is committed to ensuring all disabled people, including those with learning disabilities are treated fairly. The College makes every reasonable effort to enable students to attend the course of their choice. Adjustments to provision will be made, where possible and reasonable, to ensure that disabled people are not substantially disadvantaged. In addition the College is happy to provide appropriate support for students at all its centres. However we may need prior notice to facilitate this.
Complaints Policy and Procedures
Sussex Downs College puts students first. We will do our best to ensure that all learners, on and off-campus, have a successful and enjoyable experience. We are also committed to serving the wider business and social community. We are committed to continuous improvement in all our work.
Gender Equality Scheme
We are pleased to introduce Sussex Downs College's first Gender Equality Scheme which covers the period April 2007 to April 2010. The Scheme and its supporting Action Plan together form an integral part of the College's commitment to equality and diversity within its role as a provider of high quality education and training services, as a major local employer and as a leader in local community development. The Scheme and Plan describe how the College will meet its new legislative duties under the Equality Act 2006 to eliminate sex discrimination at the same time as actively promoting gender equality. They have been designed to address aspects of gender equality within the College as well as to challenge the root causes of gender inequality in society.
Health, Safety and Welfare Policy
As Principal of Sussex Downs College and a Member of the Corporation, I am committed to providing a healthy and safe workplace for all employees, students and visitors.
