Art , Design and Media

Ever thought of a career in the exciting and fast growing creative industries? The courses in this section are the next step in preparing you for a huge range of pportunities for progression into the arts, into the design and communication industries, into the media or the music industry.

These courses help you to find the right pathway to suit your personal strengths and interests prior to specialising in one of a range of very exciting areas.

The creative industries department has amazing facilities across all these areas (fashion, 3D, graphic design, illustration, product, fine art, textiles, moving image, radio, new edia, broadcasting, journalism, animation, and lens based media,design crafts, sound design, music technology etc.)We also have outstanding results and progression rates as well as excellence in teaching and learning.

Catering and Hospitality

Catering offers strong employment opportunities at local, national and international levels. Learn your skills in a realistic working environment with professional chefs and real customers. Develop your customer service skills in our restaurant, bistro and coffee bar. Your future could lie in 5* star hotels, prestigious restaurants, event management, higher education or self-employment. Our courses are esigned to give you access to all areas of the catering and hospitality industry

Construction and the Built Environment

Build yourself a wide range of skills in Brickwork, Carpentry & Joinery, Painting & Decorating as well as Plumbing.

The College has excellent teaching facilities at its Construction Centre - some of the best in the area. Students will find enormous opportunities in future employment from these courses, from being self employed to large building companies, from specialist skills work to general maintenance.

Construction is a large department known for its high quality work, and regular high achievement at national levels in skills competitions in all trades.

Apprenticeships are also available in these areas,including Advanced Apprenticeships.

Foundation Courses

All courses under level 2 (GCSE level) will be part of the Foundation Learning Tier (FLT) by 2010. FLT courses allow learners to build a personalised learning package, using both their own progression aspirations and tutors assessment of their skills profile.

This package will include a vocational qualification, either focused on a particular area or a taster of several different areas. This is supported by functional skills in Maths, English and ICT, and Personal and Social Development qualifications.

Students in the FLT will benefit from an extensive wrap around support service which will help them to assess their skills, regularly review their progress, and work towards appropriate destinations.

The Foundation programme area offers courses for those students who require more individual support to gain Entry and Foundation level qualifications.

The courses allow students to build on essential skills and general education whilst broadening their experience of vocational areas. These courses are particularly suitable as a preparation for students who are not yet ready to embark on a specific vocational course or ready to go directly into employment.

Students who feel they have not attained adequate grades at school will benefit from the further development in English, Number and Information Technology with different forms and qualifications.

Group sizes are small to enable tutors to give maximum support to students and there is an emphasis on assignment and project work enabling students to work at their own pace.

Hairdressing, Beauty and Complimentary Therapies

For a really exciting career look no further than our range of Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy courses. Through our links with industry leaders such as Goldwell and Dermologica, our excellent facilities in our professional salons and the opportunity to work with real clients on a daily basis, we will prepare you for a career in one of the most creative and rewarding vocational areas.

Information Technology

For students interested in IT, the leader in innovation throughout business in recent times, EVoC offers superb opportunities for full-time and specialist study. Our courses can set you up for progression into the workplace (many of our former students are in IT related work) or progress to higher education. (Our advanced courses have an excellent track record for placing students into excellent university programmes). You can join the department at the level which best fits your qualifications and experience and realise your potential in a specialist environment where you will work with a team of qualified and industrially experienced lecturers.

Technology

Get switched on to a career in engineering or motor vehicle by choosing one of our wide range of courses in the School of Technology. Equipped with modern facilities so you can gain the necessary skills needed for work in today’s motor vehicle and engineering industries. We can offer a range of courses at various levels designed to take you from basic training through to university feel. You will also be able to get to grips with up-to-the-minute technology in our electronics and mechanical engineering and vehicle repair workshops.
