About Us
Sussex Downs College is one of the largest and most successful Colleges in the South East. With sites in Eastbourne, Lewes, Newhaven and Hailsham it prides itself on creating a specifically tailored learning experience for every student.
During 2008 the Minister of State and Education officially awarded the College the ‘learning and skills Beacon Status’ in recognition of its outstanding performance. The College was also praised by Ofsted for its ‘outstanding leadership and management’ and the quality of its teaching and learning following inspection in 2007.
The College offers courses in both academic and vocational subjects with qualifications ranging from GCSE’s to foundation degrees.
The College also offers courses for mature learners through the Adult College. Employer Training, the College’s employer relations arm helps students keen to get into the work, and the International College is aimed at helping European and international students achieve their goals.
The College also works closely with local schools to help meet the needs of young people in the area. The College offers 14-16 year olds the opportunity to undertake work based learning during years 10 and 11.
