Members' Attachments
The Members’ Attachments scheme whereby members of the Corporation have links with support areas of the College has operated successfully in this College for many years.
Corporation members have a statutory duty to determine and periodically review the educational character and mission of the College and to have oversight of its activities. First hand observation of the working environment and direct contact with members of the support staff undoubtedly helps members to fulfil their statutory obligations; it also provides staff with an opportunity to discuss their role and work in the College with members of the Corporation. The attachment scheme does not operate for teaching areas as these are covered by the College’s six Learning Boards.
Members are encouraged to make at least two visits per year to their area of attachment. The College has produced a protocol for these visits (obtainable from the Clerk to the Corporation) to help to ensure that their purpose is clear and that they are productive and supportive for all involved.
