Earth Sciences
Earth Sciences is an all-embracing term for the sciences relating to the processes of planet Earth. The disciplines available to study include subjects such as Geography and Geology. You will have the opportunity to learn about the elements, the evolution of life, earth surface processes and the origins and behaviour of the oceans and atmosphere.
An innate knowledge of the earth and its processes will be accrued which will be applicable to many areas of future study.
English and Communications

We offer a wide range of courses in English. By studying one of these courses, you will develop your reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. You will also learn how to make a close analysis of style in order to gain an informed understanding of the ways in which writers use language to convey meaning and shape readers responses.
Classes often involve lively discussions and will help you develop confidence about speaking in public. Written work is carefully marked to help you improve your grasp of structure, accuracy and expression.
Our aim is to encourage active participation, develop student’s interest in their subject and equip them to learn independently as a preparation for university study or employment. These subjects combine well with a wide range of others and are useful qualifications for a large number of careers such as journalism, public relations, law, media and teaching.
Foundation Studies
The Foundation programme area offers courses for those students who require more individual support to gain Entry and Foundation level qualifications. The courses allow students to build on essential skills and general education whilst broadening their experience of vocational areas.
These courses are particularly suitable as a preparation for students who are not yet ready to embark on a specific vocational course or ready to go directly into employment.
Students who feel they have not attained adequate grades at school will benefit from the further development in English, Number and Information Technology with different forms and qualifications.
Group sizes are small to enable tutors to give maximum support to students and there is an
emphasis on assignment and project work enablingstudents to work at their own pace.
