Largest College in Sussex puts students’ results first

Thousands of students from the largest college in the county, Sussex Downs College, were jumping for joy after receiving their A level results. The college staff celebrated another successful year with their learners as they have achieved an overall pass rate of well over 97%, with around 74% achieving A-C grades.

Students studying courses ranging from accounting to sociology, law to performing arts converged on the college’s East Sussex campuses in nervous anticipation of their results on Thursday August 20. With more than 3,000 A level entries this summer, the college had the highest number of students taking A levels in the South East region.

Sussex Downs College incorporates Park College in Eastbourne and Lewes 6th Form, which between them offer more than 200 A Level courses to young people across the county.

At Lewes 6th Form College there were some very strong individual results with 39 students gaining the equivalent of three A grades or better. First indications are that all Oxbridge candidates have gained their place.

At Park College more than 13 students achieved three A grades each, with one student achieving an astonishing five A grades.

The college also offers a variety of high quality vocational qualifications and apprenticeships through its third sixth form arm Eastbourne Vocational College, neighbouring Park College.

The college has seen record numbers of 16-18 year old students, in fact the best ever recruitment with more than 5,000 full time students plus it has seen record levels of activity for 19+ learning.

100% outstanding performance for six Lewes students. For details click here.
