Richard Mears nominated for Children's BAFTA

Richard Mears an ex Park student was nominated for a Children’s BAFTA award (British Academy of Film and Television Arts), for his outstanding work in the entertainment 2009 section on ‘Bratz Design Academy’ with production company Endemol UK.

Richard MearsRichard was at Park College from 1998 and took 4 A levels in media studies, sociology, English and general studies plus history at AS level. He said: “I had a great time at Park, the teachers that really stood out for me were my media teachers. When I eventually achieved an A grade it really confirmed to me that the media was for me. ” Richard went on to study at Canterbury Christchurch University where he graduated in Radio and Television.”

Richard was extremely surprised and excited to be nominated for a BAFTA. It was a very hard show to make but he was involved in pretty much every aspect of it from casting and development all the way through to the directing and editing so it really felt good to get acknowledged.

The Mears family have sent all three children to Sussex Downs College over the years.

Richard concluded: “Park College did a lot for me and I loved every minute, thank you.”
