Foundation Degree students prepare for exhibition

Students from Sussex Downs College are working alongside staff at Towner Art Gallery in their preparations for an upcoming contemporary exhibition opening on Saturday 3 April 2010.

They are on the two year Foundation Degree in Digital Media Design with the University of Brighton.

The student’s project is to create interactive interfaces that will accompany the 'Underwater' giving gallery visitors an opportunity to learn more about the exhibition and its artists.

Towner is an exciting new art gallery and the leading centre for visual arts in the South East.

Digital Media Students at SDCActing Course Leader, Dave Alexander has been successful in obtaining a Fellowship grant for research from the University of Brighton which will allow him to conduct a study of the students as they work on the project. Dave said: “This is a project within a project, we are thrilled to be working with the award winning Towner and it is a great opportunity for the students to have their work seen by a wide audience. I will be following the students as they work towards the deadline compiling a study of the processes the students go through in achieving a project of this kind.”

The FDA in Digital Media Design is based at the Eastbourne campus of Sussex Downs College. It offers students an exciting and dynamic range of skill development covering both the creative and technical aspects of multimedia design.
