We have recently created six curriculum centres of excellence, each focused on delivering high quality teaching, learning and assessment.  We are seeking an exceptional person to lead our Vocational Studies Faculty; to work with a dedicated team of staff across a range of disciplines and to take a lead role in delivering high quality Apprenticeships.  The Faculty is home to an award winning work-based learning team, and a number of UK Skills medal winners – placing us sixth in the national FE College league tables.

We would like to hear from you if you share our passion for learning, and would like to join an energetic, forward-thinking leadership team. LEARNER SUPPORT MANAGER

This is a key role in leading the Personal Tutor team in their delivery of an excellent service that supports students through every aspect of the learner journey, from enrolment to progression.

A successful applicant will have experience of tutoring and supporting students and a proven track record in working positively and collaboratively with curriculum and service delivery teams. Post holder will work closely with the Director of Learner Support to develop and manage other members of the learner support teams in their work with students, to monitor and evaluate the impact of tutorial provision and to plan and implement a comprehensive tutorial programme that meets the requirements of Common Inspection Framework.

TUTORIAL ADMINISTRATOR (ATTENDANCE)

Actual pro rata salary range from £9,916 to £11,226 p.a. (for 30 hours per week, 36 weeks per year). Fixed-term contract from November 2014 to July 2015.

This post will provide term time administrative and clerical support for the Learner Support Directorate.  Main functions will include attendance tracking and reporting.

Applicants should have a thorough working knowledge of administrative systems and procedures, and experience of working in a customer focused role. A good level of PC literacy including accurate keyboard skills and the use of speadsheets and databases is required.

A professional approach, excellent communication skills and experience of maintaining administrative records with a high degree of accuracy are also essential.

PRINCE’S TRUST TEAM LEADER (Newhaven)

Sussex Downs College is working in partnership with the Prince’s Trust to run two Team Programmes in Eastbourne and Newhaven. The Prince’s Trust is the UK’s leading youth charity offering 16 to 25 year olds opportunities to develop confidence, learn new skills, get into work and start businesses.

Team is a 12 week personal development programme for 16-25 year olds. Teams of up to 15 young people take part in a challenging and action-packed programme, a major part of which involves teamwork in the community and a 5 day residential.

Key to the success of Prince’s Trust Team Programme is the Team Leader. The ideal candidate will have responsibility for recruiting the team and delivering the 12 week programme. All Team Leaders have to participate in a 7-day training residential prior to commencing the post.

INTERNATIONAL SUMMER & SHORT COURSE CO-ORDINATOR

£17.01 per hour / 350 core hours to be worked between December 2013 and August 2014

We are seeking to appoint a Co-ordinator to take over the academic planning and co-ordination of Eastbourne International Summer and Short Courses which includes both the Young Learner programme and some of the closed adult groups on the Eastbourne Campus. The post-holder will work in liaison with the Tailor-made course co-ordinator and the Curriculum Leader for Eastbourne English language programmes.

The post is a non-teaching post but requires prior EFL teaching experience with young learners. The successful candidate will have a degree or equivalent, a recognised EFL teaching qualification (minimum CELTA or equivalent, DELTA preferred), experience of EFL curriculum development and leadership.

Additional hours in a teaching role may be possible for the post-holder prior to June.
