Sussex Downs College delivers engaging and motivating short programmes for young people aged 12 to 16 who are currently struggling to attend and succeed at school.

The 12 to 16 programme is an energising and creative approach to learning which will support young people to address their relationships with authority, their behaviour and attitudes towards achieving at school. The curriculum is rich and varied which enables the small group to spend lots of time in the local community and having new experiences.

An opportunity has arisen for an Instructor who will lead the delivery of the programme and will take responsibility for the safety and well-being of the learners.

This post will be based on site at the Eastbourne Campus and will commence from 15 September 2014.

This is an hourly paid contract.  This post is subject to a DBS check.

The successful applicant will be responsible for tutoring a caseload of learners in order to maximise attendance, retention and achievement. In addition, they will work with the other PTLAs to deliver a Progression Pathways curriculum as directed by the Senior Tutors. You will have a genuine interest in learners’ welfare and development and a willingness to advocate on their behalf, along with a proven ability to manage effective short term interventions for learners with higher level vulnerabilities.

Therefore the ability to teach at both levels is essential.
