Kittens Day Nursery (Eastbourne Campus)

The College has both a day nursery and an after school club located on the Sussex Downs College Eastbourne campus.

Our new nursery building opened in September 2014 with spacious room and wonderful outdoor space.

Term Time Only
Monday to Thursday  8:15am – 5:15pm
Fridays  8:15am – 5:00pm

Qualified staff

All staff at Kittens are fully qualified in childcare, paediatric first aid and safeguarding. Staff are chosen for their experience, enthusiasm and commitment to childcare and to provide a consistently high standard of care.

Ofsted Registered

Kittens Day Nursery and Big Cats Out of School Clubs at Sussex Downs College, Eastbourne campus, has received a ‘Good’ grade from Ofsted.

Nursery Places

The purpose of Kittens is to provide a high standard of care to enable parents to return to work or study, we also offer places to the local community.
Kittens is for children from 2 years until rising 5
Kittens Day Nursery is situated on the Eastbourne campus and provides a high standard of childcare in a safe, friendly, relaxed, fun and welcoming atmosphere.

Grants and Subsidies

Funding is available from the term after your child’s third birthday. A subsidy is available to students who fulfil certain criteria. We accept Computer Share childcare vouchers whereby College employees can claim tax back on childcare through the monthly payroll.  We do also accept other child care voucher – for more information please ask the nursery manager.

Curriculum and Key Workers

Kittens follows a curriculum based on the ‘EYFS’ – Early Years Foundation Stage, Each child also has a keyworker, which means a named member of staff that is the main point of contact for your child, the key-worker will help your child to settle into nursery, write in your ‘home to nursery’ book daily, collate a ‘Learning Journey’ consisting of observations, photographs and personal progress alongside a ‘Summative assessment form’.

Clock Tower Nursery (Lewes Campus)

A purpose built nursery at the centre of the Lewes campus. We provide a consistently high standard of childcare with the relaxed happiness, comfort, enjoyment and security and care that a child would find at home.

Monday to Friday  8:30am – 5:15pm

Qualified staff

All staff are qualified and experienced. They are also chosen for their enthusiasm and enjoyment of working with children.

Ofsted Registered

The nursery is registered and inspected by Ofsted and accredited by the Pre-School Learning Alliance.

Nursery Places

The purpose of the Clock Tower Nursery is to increase access to education and work for people who would otherwise be unable to take up or return to a post in the College. A limited number of places are also offered to the local community.
Clock Tower Nursery accepts Children from the Age of 1 year until rising 5 Years

Key Workers

The Nursery has a Key Worker system which means a named member of staff is the main link for your child, yourself and the Nursery.

The Key Worker settles your child in, provides contact with parents or carers and sometimes with external agencies such as Health Visitors and Speech Therapists.

Curriculum

The Nursery follows a curriculum based on the ‘EYFS – Early Years Foundation Stage’. A Learning Journal Book is collated for each child, showing their personal progress while at Nursery, along with a Summative Assessment Record.
