EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY AT SUSSEX DOWNS COLLEGE

At Sussex Downs College we actively champion equality and diversity and we are committed to integrating inclusion and equality into every aspect of our culture and operations for staff and learners. These values are central to our culture and a key part of our success strategy for individuals and for our college.

We value and promote equality and diversity because it is the right thing to do. It is also the smart thing to do. Having a diverse college community gives us a wealth of perspectives and knowledge, and attracts and retains talented people from across our area. We firmly believe that the more attuned to colleagues’ and students’ individual needs and backgrounds we are, the more inclusive and successful we all become.

Building on a strong culture of providing opportunities for all, Sussex Downs College is launching an exciting new Equality and Diversity programme of training, events and policy reviews to ensure that we are a truly inclusive organisation where people from all backgrounds thrive. Celebrating our diversity and constantly challenging inequalities, our ambition is to move the college towards a position of equality and diversity best practice in the FE sector.

Equality and Diversity Champions

The College has a new team of committed Equality and Diversity Champions who are helping to drive our ambitious agenda forward. Each champion leads a task force of students and staff who meet to identify issues, provide a forum for discussion, drive action and make recommendations to College management.
