Dive into HE with Sussex Downs College

Predicted grades and university offers are part and parcel, and usually are a good indicator of what you will achieve at College. However, things don’t always go according to plan. Don’t fret if you haven’t received the grades you needed to get into University.

Here at Sussex Downs College we still have spaces on Foundation degrees available that may suit you, these include Complementary Health, Digital Media Design, Music Production, Sport Coaching and Public and Emergency Service Management. These degree courses are validated by the University of Brighton and are studied over two years.  On completion, many students gain employment or decide to study for one more year to gain a full honours degree by doing a ‘top-up’ course either at the College or at another University. We also offer a growing selection of HNC/HND courses in Hospitality Management, Health and Social Care and Engineering. We offer a £1000 study support bursary for all new Foundation Degree and HNC students. You can apply for these courses through clearing. If you have any further queries about our Higher Education courses please don’t hesitate to contact the Higher Education team at he@sussexdowns.ac.uk.

If these courses are not for you, at Sussex Downs College you can also study an Access to HE course, a link course between College and University. For mature students aged 19+, Access to HE students follow a number of progression paths from Midwifery to Law. It’s not too late to follow your ambition! Speak to Admissions (tel: 030 300 38555 or email: admissions@sussexdowns.ac.uk) for advice on your next steps. It’s not too late to start with us at Sussex Downs College!

Another option is through UCAS Clearing. If you haven’t received the university offer you wanted, you’re not alone. The Student Room identifies that this is the case for around 10% of students who start university that year. Universities fill courses they have places on through Clearing, fulfilling the need of students just like you at the same time!
