College Alumni’s Artwork Makes Waves
As A-Level Results Day approaches, Sussex Downs College celebrates the success of former student Paul Millton BA Hons.
Local artist Paul Milton is receiving a lot of recognition for his work. And this week, as students prepare to collect their A-Level results and plan their next steps, the former college alumni has attributed Sussex Downs College to his success.
In a recent interview for Uckfield FM, Paul discussed his art and upcoming exhibitions, mentioning his time at Sussex Downs Lewes College and the support of his. Paul says: “My studying at Sussex Downs College honestly shaped my future. Without the kind support from the college I wouldn’t be where I am today when it comes to my progression of my art. The main teacher who influenced was James Diabaze at Lewes; he gave me a chance, and that chance was so crucial, I can’t thank him enough.”
Most recently, Paul’s work was featured in the The Uckfield Art Trail (18th-19th July), but it’s the individual’s reaction to his portrait work that gives him the most satisfaction. He says: “I love art bringing joy to people’s lives and giving them memories they can cherish. I had a portrait unveiling recently and the person reacted so positively and happily. Her family are coming over especially to see the portrait; it really is a nice thought that your art has made such a great impact.”
Paul’s work is archived and recorded with National Portrait Gallery. And if you happen to be doing your weekly shop at Sainsbury’s in Haywards Heath, you will see a hand drawn mural featuring Paul’s portrait work.
