Sussex Downs College is committed to making sure that it is a safe and welcoming environment in which to work and learn.
Personal safety is important when you take part in any kind of learning. You have the right to be and feel safe. People should not harm or abuse you, or threaten to do this.
Your responsibilities are to respect other people’s rights to safety and not to harm or abuse others or to threaten to harm or abuse others (NIACE guidelines).
If you think that you have been harmed or abused by another learner, member of staff or someone close to you, e.g. a parent or carer, then you must tell someone you trust as soon as possible. This person could be a staff member, personal tutor or a member of the Safeguarding Team who has a responsibility for protecting learners.
